Sapphic describes love or desire between women, or writing and art that speaks from that place. The word comes from , a poet who lived on the Greek island of Lesbos more than two thousand years ago; her poems talk about loving women, and later people made her name into this adjective. It is more and softer-edged than lesbian, which is the plain modern word. You will meet sapphic in essays, in poetry, and in some communities that like the older literary colour. There is also an old Greek verse pattern called Sapphic metre, but the meaning you need here is the one about women who love women. Use it with respect; it is about people, not a joke.
