Saki is a name, not a common word for a thing. It is the name the British writer H.H. Munro (1870–1916) used when he published. He wrote short stories that are funny and sharp, and they often turn at the end: you think you know where you are, and the last lines change everything. People still read him when they want a short, clever story. Write it with a capital S, because it is a name he chose, not a family name he was born with. He took it from an old Persian poem, the Rubaiyat, where a sâqi is the person who pours the wine. Say it like SAH-kee.
