An S-curve is a bend in a road that goes one way and then the other, like the letter S pressed a little flatter. You turn, then you must turn the other way soon after, so it is easy to come in too fast and slide. Road signs sometimes warn you before one. Drivers use the word in ordinary talk; it is not fancy. Though actually, people also call other S-shaped lines an S-curve — a graph that rises slowly, then quickly, then — but the driving meaning is just that double bend in the road.
