Rothschild is the name of a famous European Jewish banking family. From the 1700s , members of the family built banks in several countries and became extremely rich and well known. For about two hundred years the name stood for money, banking, and influence. The German name means “red shield” — a house sign — not “child.” In English, though, people usually say it as if it were “Roth’s child.” That is just how English mouths reshape the spelling. People also stretch the word: “a Rothschild” can mean a very rich person, not necessarily someone from that family. Though actually, you will also meet wild stories that the family secretly runs the world. The family was (and is) real and wealthy. The cartoon of secret world control is the kind of tale that grows around any famous rich house, and it has often been mixed with ugly lies about Jewish people. Learn the history; do not swallow the myth.
組成Borrowed from German Rothschild, literally “red shield” (Roth = red, Schild = shield). English often says it as if it were Roth’s child, which is only a spelling pronunciation, not the German meaning.
