A roll-out is the occasion, or the planned period, when a new product, service, or rule is made available for people to buy or use. A company rolls out a phone; a school rolls out a new app class by class. The picture behind it is something so it can be seen and used, though actually nobody is rolling a physical thing along the floor. It belongs to business and news English and sounds a little more planned than a simple launch: a launch can be one big day, a roll-out can be slow and in . You will meet the (roll-out), the one-word form (rollout), and the verb (they rolled it out last May).
