A ring-pull is the small metal ring on the top of a drinks can. You hook a finger in it and pull, and the can opens. British English likes this word; in American English people more often say pull tab, or just tab. Older cans had a ring-pull that came right off in your hand — and then became litter. Newer cans mostly keep the ring on the lid after you open them. You also hear it for food tins with the same kind of opener. Informal, everyday, shops and picnics.
