A rickshaw is a light little vehicle for one or two passengers. In some places a person pulls it while walking; in others the puller rides a bicycle in front (people may say cycle rickshaw). You still see them in parts of South and South East Asia, and as tourist rides in some cities. The English word is a borrowing from Japanese, not a home-grown English picture-word. It is an ordinary noun. People rarely use it as a verb. It is not a motor , which has an engine, and it is not a taxi.

組成From Japanese rikisha, a short form of jinrikisha (人力車): 人 person + 力 power + 車 cart — a cart moved by human power. English borrowed the short form.
