1. 1

RHS is the short name of the Royal Horticultural Society, a British group started in 1804 to help people get better at growing plants, flowers, and fruit. Horticulture is the careful growing of garden plants. The RHS is famous for the Chelsea Flower Show, a big garden show in London each year. British say 'the RHS' the way we might say the name of a well-known club. Though actually the same three letters can mean other things — in maths class, RHS is often 'right-hand side' of an equation — so look at where you are. In a garden book, RHS is this society.
