    A rhetorician is someone trained, or simply very , in moving people with speech or writing — choosing words, building an argument, making an audience feel and agree. In ancient Greece and Rome this was a real kind of training, and the word still has that schoolroom smell. Today you meet it mainly in books and university talk, not on job ads. It can be respectful (a master of persuasion) or a little cool (someone better with words than with truth). It names a person. The skill itself is rhetoric; the adjective is rhetorical.
