A revue is a theatre show made of short pieces — songs, dances, and jokes — often poking fun at the news and famous people of that moment. It is not one long story like a play, and it is not a concert. The French word means “review,” and English already had review; revue kept the French spelling to name this light, topical kind of show. You will meet it in theatre history and in old show titles more than in everyday chat. Though actually, a night of sketches on television is doing a similar job, even if nobody calls it a revue any more. Do not read the word as review (a write-up of a film or book), even though the two are twins.
