To revivify someone or something is to give it new life and health. It is a cousin of revive and revitalize, but it is rarer and more . A writer might revivify an old tradition; a critic might say a new play revivifies a tired form; a medical sentence might speak of revivifying a patient. In everyday speech, revive is the word you want. Revivify is not sarcastic — it sincerely means “bring living strength back” — it has just put on a jacket and gone to a lecture. You will meet it in essays more than at the bus stop.
