A reproving look, tone, or remark is one that shows you think someone did wrong. It does not have to be a long speech. Often it is the face or the voice that does the work — a raised , a slow “really?” The word is the -ing form of reprove, used like an adjective. It feels old-fashioned and a little literary, the kind of word a novel uses for a parent or a teacher. In everyday talk people might just say a look.
