Regenerative describes something that can grow back, heal itself, or make new energy from what would otherwise be wasted. Doctors talk about 'regenerative medicine' - treatments that help the body repair its own tissue. Car engineers talk about 'regenerative braking', where the energy from braking is captured and turned back into power instead of being wasted as heat.
