Regeneration is the process of growing back, coming back to life, or being renewed. In biology, some animals show regeneration - a lizard can regrow a lost tail. In cities, 'urban regeneration' means an old, run-down area is rebuilt and brought back to life, with new shops, housing, and jobs. In both cases, the core idea is the same: something damaged or dying comes back stronger or new again.
