A redwood is a kind of huge tree that grows on the west coast of the United States, especially in California and Oregon. Some are among the tallest living things on earth — taller than many buildings. People also call the timber redwood: the wood is , strong, and used outdoors because it does not rot easily. In ordinary English, redwood usually means the coast redwood; tourists sometimes lump in the giant , though keep the names apart. It is a tree name, not a colour word for any timber. You will not see these trees growing wild in Taiwan.
