Reaganomics is a nickname for the economic policies of the United States while Ronald Reagan was president (1981–1989). The name sticks Reagan and economics together. In simple terms the package was: cut taxes (especially for companies and people with more money), cut government spending on welfare (help for poor people, people without jobs, and the like), and rules on business, in the hope that money and jobs would then grow. Though actually, even people who use the word do not all point at the same thing — some mean the tax cuts, some notice that military spending went up at the same time (so the government did not simply “spend less” overall), and some use Reaganomics as praise or as a complaint, depending on their . It is a history-and-news word, not a science word with one tight definition.
