    Ravenously is how you do something when you are extremely hungry. Most often it sits with eating words — eat, devour, gulp. He ate ravenously. You can also say ravenously hungry, which piles the idea up (hungry, and then ravenously on top); people say it anyway, for extra feeling. It is fine in speech and in writing that wants a vivid picture. Though actually, it still is not about the bird. Use it when the hunger, or a greedy wish like hunger, is the point — not when you only mean quickly.
