Rapunzel is a girl in an old European fairy tale. A witch keeps her prisoner at the top of a high tower with no door she can use. Rapunzel's hair is extremely long. When a prince calls to her, she lets her hair hang down the side of the tower, and he climbs it like a rope and reaches her. That hair-as-rope picture is what most people remember. Though actually, the oldest tellings are darker than many children's books: the couple are pulled apart for a time, and the prince is blinded, before they find each other again. Many students in Taiwan now meet her first through the Disney film Tangled, where she is braver and funnier and the story is gentler. People also say “Rapunzel” as a warm joke for someone with very long hair.
組成Borrowed from German Rapunzel, also the name of several kinds of lettuce — in the old tale, that plant is what the mother craves.
