Rapidity is how quickly something happens or is done — speed, especially when the time is very short. It is a formal noun: the rapidity of the change, with surprising rapidity. In speech people mostly say speed or how quickly. You will meet it in news, science, and careful writing. It comes from rapid (fast). It is not rapids, the white, fast part of a river, and it is not , which is greed. Though actually, rapidity often feels a bit more sudden than speed: writers like it when something moves or changes in a short burst, not when they only mean 'not slow'.
