    Randy means full of sexual desire — in the mood for sex, or often that way. British and Australian speakers use it more than Americans, who usually say horny. It can describe a feeling right now, or a nature that runs that way, and people also use it of animals. Among friends it can be ; in the wrong room it feels crude. It is not a polite meeting word, and it is a little old-fashioned among some young people, though everyone still understands it. The first uses we can point to are Scottish, in the 1600s, when randy meant and aggressive; the sexual sense grew later. Though actually, the man’s name Randy is a different word, from Randall — same spelling, no shared meaning.

組成From Scottish randy, “boisterous, aggressive”. The further origin is uncertain: it probably comes from rand, “to storm, rave”, a variant of rant; or from rand, “edge”, in the sense of being on edge. Related to randan.
