A railwayman is someone whose job is on the railway: driving a train, working in a station, repairing tracks, and so on. It is a British-style word. American English more often says railroad worker. The -man ending is old-fashioned. Though actually, plenty of women do this work, so people now often say railway worker, which covers everyone. You will still meet railwayman in older books and in some news, especially when the writer wants a traditional flavour.
