In the UK, a Railcard is a special card you buy so that you can pay less for train tickets. It is not a ticket, and it is not a travel pass that lets you ride for free: you still buy a ticket each time, but the price is lower — often about a third off — because you have the card. The card is sold to particular groups: older people, young people, families, and some others. You show it when you buy the ticket, and often again on the train. The name is a brand in Britain, so you will see it with a capital R. Taiwan has cheaper fares for some groups on 台鐵 and the MRT, but we do not call those a Railcard; the word belongs to the UK system.
