When writing, a joke, or a film is racy, it is lively and a bit improper — usually because it talks about sex, or hints at it, in a way meant to be fun rather than shocking. A racy novel is spicy; a racy remark might make someone laugh and blush. It is not the word for hard pornography; it sits in the cheeky, daring zone. Magazines and use it. Though actually, the word is older than that. It first described things with a strong, distinctive taste, especially wine. That 'sharp and lively' feeling then moved onto writing. For this meaning, think spicy, not fast cars and not skin colour — even though those other English words look the same.
組成來自較舊的 race，指酒、水果那種獨特的味道，再加上 -y。所以 racy 先是「有那股鮮明味道」，後來才用來形容文字活、膽大。
