A -rouser is a person who works a crowd up — on purpose — until people are angry and ready to shout or fight, usually to win a political point. The picture is: there is already a restless crowd (the ), and this person rouses them, like waking something up. Newspapers use it as a charge; the person themselves would never proudly say “I am a -rouser.” It names one person. Informal-to-journalistic, always negative or at least suspicious.
