Rabat is the capital city of Morocco. It sits in the northwest of the country, on the Atlantic coast, where the River Bou Regreg meets the sea. The king and the government work there, so news that says “Rabat” often means the state — the way people say “Washington” when they mean the United States government. It is a place name, so it takes a capital R. English took the name from French Rabat, which is the form used in a lot of older maps and official talk.
拉巴特(摩洛哥首都)
組成Borrowed into English from French Rabat, the French form of the city’s name.

rabatverb詞源 2/ɹəˈbæt/
- 1
To rotate a plane of projection.
- For example, we would tend to say that qa is rabatted (rotated) around the axis qd, but notice that conventional rabatment cannot explain the position of plane topl, since it should be rabatted around the line ix in the corporea, and instead it has been rotated around a vertical line passing through d.
- Generally the true form of the diagonal is drawn on the half-breadth plan, being obtained by rabatting the plane containing the diagonal about the line through m into the horizontal plane.
