q.v. is a tiny note in books, from Latin, meaning 'which see' — that is, 'go and look at that other place.' A writer puts it after a name, a title, or a word to send you to another page or another entry in the same book where more is said. It is a cousin of see also, but q.v. is more like a finger pointing: look it up over there. You find it in older scholarly books, encyclopaedias, and some footnotes; everyday English almost never uses it. People usually write it with full stops, and you either read the letters or just turn to the place it means. Though actually, in very old medical recipes the same letters could stand for a different Latin phrase meaning 'as much as you wish.' That is not this use.
組成From Latin quod vide (or quod videās), literally “which see”: quod (“which”) + vidē, the command form of videō (“to see”).
