Someone who feels put-upon thinks other people are treating them by expecting them to do too much. The jobs collect on their desk. The favours are not really asked; they are assumed. A put-upon parent is the one who always drives. A put-upon colleague is the one who stays because nobody else will. The word is an adjective, a little old, and a little sorry for that person. Though actually, it is not a word for being busy. Plenty of busy people chose the work. Put-upon is about the of the asking, and about the feeling that your yes is being used. You will often meet it after feel: I felt put-upon. You can also put it before a noun: a put-upon sigh.
