A pursuer is someone who is chasing you. In a story, the pursuers are close behind. Police can be pursuers; so can a dog; so can a person who will not stop following. The word is a little more written than the people chasing you, but it is not rare, and it is not only for crime. A child playing tag has a pursuer. Though actually, in Scottish courts a pursuer is the person who brings the case — what other places call the or plaintiff. That is a different job for the same spelling; this entry is the chasing one. If you meet it in a Scottish news story about a court, do not picture a chase down the street.
