The study of the body in relation to the mind — how the brain, nerves, hormones, and the rest of a living body hang together with thoughts, moods, and behaviour. If you ask why fear makes the heart race, or why lack of sleep changes a person's temper, you are in psychobiology. It sits between psychology and biology, and different universities give almost the same work different names, though actually the questions overlap a great deal. It is a scientific, academic word. It is not a talking treatment, not psychiatry (the medical care of mental illness), and not a kind of magic.
