The prostate is a small organ in the body of male , including men. It sits just under the bladder, around the tube that urine uses to leave the body, and it makes a fluid that mixes with sperm so the sperm can travel. You will hear the word often in health talk: as men get older the prostate can grow and make passing urine hard, and doctors also check it for cancer. It is a medical body-part word, but it is not rude; doctors and families say it . Though actually, English mix it up with prostrate, which means lying flat on the ground — the two words look almost the same and are not related.
組成Borrowed from Middle French prostate, from Medieval Latin prostata, from Ancient Greek προστάτης (prostátēs), “one who stands in front.” Doctors named it that way because the gland sits in front of the bladder. Built from Greek pro- (in front) + a verb “to stand.”
