    The adverb from pronominal. If a word is used pronominally, it is being used the way a pronoun is used — standing in, pointing back, not naming the thing in full. A grammar book might say that one is used pronominally in this sentence, or that an adjective is used pronominally when no noun follows it (as in “I’ll take the blue”).
