Profitability is about whether a business or an activity makes a profit — and often how much, or how well it can keep doing so. People talk about the profitability of a shop, a product, or a whole industry.
Profitability關心的是 is about whether一個企業或一項活動 a business or an activity makes a profit有沒有賺錢 — and而且常常是 often how much, or how well it can keep doing so賺多少、或能不能一直維持下去。People有人 talk about會談到 the profitability一家店、一個產品,或整個產業的profitability of a shop, a product, or a whole industry。
Though actually, it is not the same as profit. Profit is the money left after you pay the costs. Profitability is more like the power or the pattern: does this usually make money? Is it a good money-making machine?
Though actually不過其實, it它 is not the same as並不等同於 profit「profit利潤」。Profit利潤 is the money left是付完成本後剩下的錢 after you pay the costs。Profitability而Profitability比較像 is more like the power or the pattern一種能力或一種模式: does this usually make money這個東西通常有沒有在賺錢? Is it它是不是 a good money-making machine一台好的賺錢機器?
A company might have a lucky profit one year and still have poor profitability if the way it works is weak.
A company一家公司 might have可能某一年 a lucky profit運氣好賺了錢 one year, and still但仍然 have poor profitability如果運作方式很弱profitability還是可能很差 if the way it works is weak。
This is a business and news word, quite formal. Ordinary talk more often just says “Does it make money?”
This這 is a business and news word是商業和新聞用字, quite formal相當正式。Ordinary talk一般口語 more often just says更常只說 “Does it make money?”「這東西有賺錢嗎?」
組成profitable + -ity. The ending -ity turns an adjective into a noun that names the quality.
