A postcode is the short mix of letters and numbers you write at the end of an address so the post office can sort mail quickly and find the right street or even the right building. It is the British (and also Australian) word. American English says ZIP code, and those are mostly numbers. A UK postcode really does mix letters and numbers, like SW1A 1AA. People also use postcode as a verb: to postcode something is to put the postcode on it, though the noun is far more common. Same warning as : this post is mail, not after.
