1. 1

Portmeirion is a small village on the coast of North Wales. An architect named Clough Williams-Ellis designed and built it to look like a pretty Italian fishing town, with coloured houses, a dome, and a harbour. Tourists go for the views and because it feels a bit like a stage set. It became extra famous as the place where the 1960s British television programme The Prisoner was filmed — the strange village in that series is this real one. There is also a pottery brand named after the place. It is a place name, not a word you turn into a plural in ordinary talk.
