The pope is the leader of the Catholic Church, based in Vatican City in Rome. You almost always say 'the pope', with 'the' in front, like a job title — 'the pope', 'the president'. Sometimes people also use 'pope' more loosely to mean the top expert or most respected person in a field, like 'the pope of jazz' — a playful, informal use.
教宗(天主教會的最高領袖)
組成It doesn't split into pieces, but it comes from an old Greek and Latin word 'papa', meaning 'father' — because the pope is seen as a father figure to the Church.
