Pontiac is a kind of American car, made by General Motors. For years it sat in the middle of GM’s family of brands: not the cheapest cars, not the most luxury ones, and often a little sporty. People still know names like Firebird and Trans Am, even though GM stopped making Pontiac cars around 2010. You will not find a new Pontiac in a shop, but old ones are still on the road, and the name still means that American car in films and talk. It is a proper name, so it takes a capital P. Some towns in the US and Canada are also called Pontiac; the car and those places are named after the same person, not after a common English word.
組成The name comes from Pontiac, an Ottawa war chief. His name was borrowed from Ottawa Bwandiag. Most places called Pontiac, and the car brand, were named after him.
