    Polytheistic is the describing word for that belief, or for a story, a people, or a religion that has more than one god. You say a polytheistic religion, a polytheistic myth, a polytheistic world. Same idea as , but it hangs on a noun. It is a formal, school word. Though actually, calling a living faith “polytheistic” can sound cold, as if you have filed it in a drawer. Use it when you are comparing ideas (one god / many gods), and be gentle when you are talking about people who still worship that way. It does not mean “very religious,” and it does not mean “confused about God.”
