Showing no look on your face — no smile, no , nothing that would let another person read what you feel. It comes from the card game poker. If you look pleased with a good hand, the others may stop betting; if you look disappointed with a poor hand, they may see that you are only pretending. So a player learns to keep a still face. People now use the word far outside cards: a poker-faced teacher, a poker-faced answer when someone asks how the interview went. It is informal but widely understood, a little colourful rather than official. In Taiwan you may already know the loan 撲克臉 — that is the same idea.
