Shaped with a sharp or narrow end. A pointy hat, pointy shoes, a pointy chin, pointy teeth. This is the informal, slightly playful sister of pointed. Children say it a lot; adults say it too when they want to sound casual or a little funny. Pointed is the word you would choose in a careful description. Though actually, pointy can feel a tiny bit childish in formal writing, and in the joke "pointy-headed" it is a rude way to talk about people who think they are clever. For the simple shape meaning, it is friendly and clear. It does not mean "having a purpose," and it does not mean a remark that is meant to sting — that is a pointed remark, not a pointy one.
組成point + -y. From point + the ending -y, which makes an adjective meaning "full of" or "like."
