1. 1

Podgy means a bit fat, in a soft, round way — not huge, more like . It is mainly British. Americans are more likely to say pudgy, which is the same idea with a different vowel. People use it of a person, a baby, a face, or fingers. It is informal. Though actually, the feeling of the word changes with the room: said of a toddler it can sound warm, but said of an adult who did not ask, it can sting. Dictionaries treat podgy and pudgy as two forms of one meaning, not as two different ideas.
