A pillager is a person who pillages: someone who goes into a place, usually in a war, and steals a great deal and often breaks a great deal too. We use it for soldiers, raiders, or people in old stories who ride into a town and carry off food, animals, gold, and anything else they can grab. It is a rather word. In everyday talk people are more likely to say if the stealing is happening in a riot or after a disaster, or thief for one person taking things. You can stretch pillager a little for someone who takes and ruins greedily even when there is no army, but that still sounds like writing, not chatting. The act, or the stolen goods, is pillage; the person who does it is the pillager.
