Piccadilly is a famous street in central London. It runs along the north side of Green Park, between Hyde Park Corner and Piccadilly Circus. It is known for costly hotels, shops, and offices. We treat it as a place name, so we do not say 'a piccadilly.' When people say they will meet at Piccadilly, they often mean the busy Circus at the end — lights, traffic, a crush of people — not only the long street itself. The name is older than the grand street we see now. It comes from Pickadilly Hall, a house belonging to a tailor who sold a stiff lace collar called a piccadill. The street name is found from the 1600s; part of it was once called Portugal Street.
組成From Pickadilly Hall, named after the piccadill, a lace collar. The collar name may come from Spanish for something pierced or cut. Piccadilly is recorded as the London street name from 1695; the place-name is a little older.

- Why Piccadilly? The Piccadilly Line was originally the Great Northern, Piccadilly & Brompton Railway (GNP&BR) which was shortened to Piccadilly in practice.
