Phishing is the criminal work of sending emails, messages, or fake websites that trick someone into giving away private information — a bank number, a password, a code from your phone. The thief then uses that information to take money or goods. The bait looks real: a bank logo, a delivery notice, a boss asking you to 'confirm'. Though actually, the word is a joke spelling of fishing. Early computer crackers wrote ph- instead of f- so their talk would slip past simple scans, the same trick you see in words like phreak and . So people 'phish' the way you fish: put bait in the water and wait. It is everyday news English now, not hacker slang only. You can also use it as a verb: they phished him; a phishing email. Formal enough for a bank warning; common enough for a family chat about a suspicious LINE message.
組成A respelling of fishing ('trying to find'). In old Usenet cracker and pirate groups, phish and warez (for wares) were written with odd letters to dodge filters. Same family of joke spellings as phat and phreak.
