A philtre is a magic drink that is supposed to make someone fall in love. You will meet it in old stories, fairy tales, and fantasy, not in a real kitchen or a real pharmacy. It is a literary, slightly old-fashioned word; younger people are more likely to say love potion. Philtre is the British spelling; American books often write philter. Though actually, nobody is pouring this in ordinary life — it belongs to witches, old plots, and playful writing. It is not a medical drink and it is not a filter for water, even though it can look and sound close to filter on the page. The tone is storybook, not scientific.
組成An old literary word that came into English from French and Latin, going back to a Greek word for a love charm. It does not split into smaller English pieces.
