1. 1

A philanderer is a man who has sex with many women and does not mean to stay, marry, or build a serious relationship. The word is used of a man, not a woman — English does not really turn it the other way round. It is a little old-fashioned and a little cold in tone: newspapers and novels like it, but in everyday talk people are more likely to say player or womanizer. It is not a compliment, even when someone says it with a laugh. It is about the pattern of not meaning to commit, not about one mistake.
