In biology and medicine, pharming is a kind of farming mixed with drugs. Scientists change an animal’s DNA — the instructions inside its body — so the animal makes a substance people can turn into medicine, often in the milk. A goat or a cow becomes a living factory. The word is a blend of pharmaceutical and farming, and it belongs to lab and industry talk, not everyday English. Though actually, the same spelling names a different trick on the internet. That sense comes from farming, built to sit beside the older scam word phishing. In phishing, someone baits you to click a fake link. In pharming, they tamper with the path itself, so you can type the real bank address and still arrive at a copy. Same letters, two worlds. If you meet the word next to goats or proteins, it is the medicine-farm meaning. If you meet it in a bank warning, it is the fake-site meaning. Outside those two rooms, it will just look like a misspelling of farming. Do not blend the two.
