Phallic means 'like a phallus' or 'about a phallus'. A phallus is a penis, especially when it is treated as a shape or a symbol rather than as a body part in a doctor's room. So a tower, a statue, a rocket, or a joke can be called phallic if people read it as penis-shaped, or as showing male sexual power. You will meet it in art class, psychology, and newspaper writing about buildings and films. It is a grown-up, slightly academic word — not a playground word, and not the ordinary polite way to talk about the body. Though actually, people sometimes stick 'phallic' on any tall object as a cheap laugh. Careful writers use it when the shape or the meaning really does point that way.
