Perspiration is the liquid that appears on your skin when you are hot, nervous, or working hard. In everyday English, people just say sweat: same wet, same body. Perspiration is the more polite, slightly medical or careful word — the one you hear in a doctor’s room, a science class, or tidy writing. You can talk about beads of perspiration on someone’s forehead. Though actually, nobody in a hot kitchen shouts “I have perspiration!”; they say they are sweating. The fancy word does not name a different liquid. It just dresses the same fact in nicer clothes.

組成From French perspiration, from perspirer, from Latin perspirare: per (through) + spirare (to breathe, to blow) — as if the body is “breathing through” the skin. In English it is perspire + -ation (the noun for the action or the result).
