Perseverance is the quality of keeping on with something difficult, without giving up. English uses the word to show approval: we are praising the person. A student who fails, studies again, and sits the test once more is showing perseverance; so is a team that loses and still trains. It is a somewhat formal, warm noun — you will see it in school comments, speeches, and stories about people we admire. It names the quality you have, not one single action. Though actually, it does not mean you never rest and never change your plan; it means you do not quit the thing that matters.
