In ancient Greek stories, Perseus is a hero. His most famous deed is killing , whose hair was snakes and whose look turned people to stone. He used a shiny shield like a mirror, so he did not have to look at her straight on. Stories also give him , and later have him save Andromeda. He is the son of Zeus and a human mother, Danaë. A group of stars in the night sky is named Perseus after him. This is a name from old stories, not an everyday English word for a kind of person.
